Patron Saint

Paola

Christ the King

The patronal devotion of Paola centres on Christ the King, a title emphasising Christ’s spiritual sovereignty and kingship over the faithful. The parish’s revered titular statue, sculpted in wood by the renowned Maltese artist Alfred Camilleri Cauchi, depicts Christ seated in regal majesty, blessing the faithful. Housed in the Basilica of Christ the King, the statue is the focal point of the town’s annual feast celebrations.

In a historic moment for the parish, the statue was ceremonially crowned with a silver crown plated in gold and adorned with precious stones, symbolising the devotion of Paola’s residents and reinforcing the statue’s role as the spiritual emblem of the community.
