Paola

St Ubaldesca Church

The Church of St Ubaldesca is the oldest surviving church in Paola, dating to around 1630, only a few years after the town itself was founded by Grand Master Antoine de Paule. Dedicated to the Italian saint Ubaldesca, closely associated with the Order of St John, the

chapel served the spiritual needs of the town’s earliest residents. Its modest Baroque-style architecture reflects the simplicity of early Maltese rural churches.
