Church of St Dominic (Church of the Annunciation)
The Church of St Dominic, also known as the Church of the Annunciation, is one of Birgu’s historic religious landmarks. Established by the Dominican Order in the 15th century, the church has played an important role in the city’s spiritual and cultural life for centuries. The original church suffered extensive damage during the Second World War and was subsequently rebuilt. Today, it remains a centre of Dominican devotion and is closely associated with the annual Feast of St Dominic, celebrated on the last Sunday of August. Its religious traditions, artworks and festive celebrations form an important part of Birgu’s rich cultural heritage.
