Our Lady of Sorrows
Unlike many Maltese towns, Pietà does not have a large traditional village festa centred on a patron saint. Instead, the locality’s religious identity is closely tied to the devotion of Our Lady of Sorrows (Madonna tad-Duluri), whose feast is celebrated across Malta during Holy Week, particularly on the Friday before Good Friday.
The church in Pietà commemorates this devotion through liturgical services and prayer gatherings reflecting the sorrow of the Virgin Mary at the suffering of Christ. Today the church also hosts spiritual retreats and youth gatherings, continuing its role as a place of reflection and devotion within the wider parish of Our Lady of Fatima in nearby Gwardamanġa.
